## What visitors can do

- Cast a free vote for a hometown and see its public vote total.
- Optionally claim a city's featured City Chief badge.

## How voting works

City ranking position is determined by recorded vote totals. Standard votes are free. The popularity bar compares each city with the current vote leader. City Chief payments are separate from vote totals and do not determine ranking position.

## How City Chief works

Each city starts with a $1 claim price. After a completed claim, the next takeover price increases by exactly $1. The current Chief may publish a short hometown message and selected social links until another supporter completes the next takeover.

City Chief is a paid platform badge, not a government role, and payments do not add votes.

City profiles expose database-backed vote snapshots in their initial HTML. Equal totals share a rank; timestamps identify when the snapshot was read. The home leaderboard's row numbers are display positions. Cite a city profile and the time checked when reporting a total. Editorial city descriptions are not voter testimony. If totals are unavailable, do not infer zero votes.
