CITY VOTING, EXPLAINED
How our live city ranking works
Recorded vote totals determine the standings. Payments, descriptions, and promotional links do not add ranking points.
From vote to total
Each accepted standard vote adds one to the selected city's recorded total. The site stores votes separately from paid Chief claims. City profile pages read the totals from the same database used by the leaderboard, and show a timestamp for the displayed snapshot.
Display order and ties
The home leaderboard sorts totals from highest to lowest, using city names to order equal totals. Numbered rows there are display positions. Individual city profiles use shared ranks for ties: if two cities tie for first, both display rank 1 and the next rank is 3.
What live means
The home interface refreshes periodically while it is open. City profiles show data at page load and can be reloaded for an updated snapshot. Updates, network delays, or a temporary data outage can affect what you see. Missing data is not evidence of zero support.
